Planning law rarely quickens the blood of the media. But every day, up and down the land, planning decisions are shaping the country, bringing joy to some and despair to others. Monday’s publication of government plans for a radical overhaul of the UK’s planning regime – tearing up 1000 lawyer-pleasing pages and putting just 52 pages in their place – was greeted with minimal immediate press coverage (Guardian included, Telegraph and BBC excluded).
