Helsinki Rejects Congestion Charges

Finnish National Coalition party politicians led by Arto Satonen, the chairman of the parliamentary transport committee, on Friday slammed the new transport minister’s proposal to introduce a congestion charge scheme in the capital region. Merja Kyllönen, the transport minister, had told the Finnish News Agency (STT) on Thursday that a congestion charge scheme would reduce emissions and improve traffic safety in and around Helsinki.
