Finnish Railways Chief Calls for Long-term Planning

Mikael Aro, the head of Finnish Railways (VR), was quoted as saying by national daily Helsingin Sanomat on Monday that rolling stock investment planning was hampered by uncertainty about the future of the country’s railway network. “The level of predictability as to what sort of railway network the country will have in 20 to 50 years’ time is in effect nil,” Aro was quoted as saying.
