TEKES FINLAND –  The replacement value of electricity distribution networks in Finland is about EUR 15 billion and annual investment in them is some EUR 550 million. Current investment is already oriented towards future needs, such as real-time data and grid flexibility. “Most of our electricity networks were built in the 1960s and 1970s. The lifetimes of their main components are about 40 years so the networks are approaching their period of overhaul,” says senior engineer Mika Matikainen of the Energy Market Authority. Read More
