UNESCO – The European Space Agency (ESA) in the context of the Committee of Earth Observation Satellites (CEOS) started the TIGER initiative as a concrete action following the resolutions of the World Submit on Sustainable Development held in Johannesburg. The initiative aims at assisting African countries to overcome problems faced in the collection, analysis and dissemination of water related geo-information by exploiting the advantages of Earth Observation (EO) technology.
