Oceansat-2 Ground Station Inaugurated

An Oceansat-2 (IRS) ground station was inaugurated at the Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) on the day. The ground station was established by the Department of Space (DOS) and INCOIS to receive and process data from the
Ocean Colour Monitor (OCM) on board Oceansat-2 in real time. The ocean color data from OCM, indicating chlorophyll concentration, will be integrated with sea surface temperature data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) satellites to provide Potential Fishing Zone (PFZ) information services in India. The ground station is planned to be used to receive data from earth observation satellites to be launched by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) in the future for the study of oceans.
