Location Information Strategy for Western Australia

  • Rating12345

It has taken hundreds of hours of stakeholder consultation, drafting of documents and reviews by the Project Team and numerous Subject Matter Experts to reach this point. However, we can be truly proud in saying that as a result of this commitment we have produced a representative, holistic and collaborative document that will guide the future direction of location information collection, use and management for the State of Western Australia and help us all to Realise the Power of Location.

So, what does this mean for WALIS, Landgate and the State as a whole?

For WALIS and Landgate, the next big step will be in leading coordination of the Realising the Power of Locationprogram of work as well as taking a lead role in implementing a number of the Strategic Initiatives and Priority Projects. Meetings and workshops are currently taking place to ensure that we are aligning as many projects as possible to the Location Information Strategy.  A new project team is being established to undertake the planning for implementation of the Strategy and to develop a submission to Cabinet.

For Western Australia, it means we now have a clear direction, framework and vision for the collection, use and management of location information. The Location Information Strategy, in combination with SLIP and the WALIS model, places Western Australia at the forefront of Location Information best practice.

The final Location Information Strategy is available here.
