JPL Scientists Advance Satellite-based Flood Detection

WHITTIER DAILY NEWS –  With more than 1,500 dead and millions more left homeless by massive floods still wreaking havoc across several regions of Pakistan, humanitarian organizations on the ground are working to anticipate and minimize further devastation. In this daunting task, scientists say satellite data can help. From his office at Jet Propulsion Laboratory in La Cañada Flintridge, senior research scientist Son Nghiem has been using NASA satellites to monitor the floods from afar.
