First Nations Look for Land-use Planning Tools

The standing committee on aboriginal affairs and northern development met on Thursday with department officials from Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada (AANDC) to discuss land use and sustainable economic development (overview of land tenure and land registry). AANDC officials provided an overview of the land tenure system, land registry and other management of reserve lands under the Indian Act as well for traditional territories, historic treaty lands and settlement lands.
