IBGE reveals today, November 4, the resident population in each of the 5.565 Brazilian municipalities on August 1st, 2010, according to the results of the 2010 Population Census, carried out from August 1st to October 31, which enumerated 185,712,713 people in the whole Brazil.
The population in each municipality will be also published today, on the Federal Official Gazette of Brazil, according to supplementary act no. 59, of December 22, 1988, and to article 102 of law no. 8443, of July 16, 1992. These results will be presented to city halls through a written notice by IBGE and during meetings of the State Census Commissions (CCE) and the Municipal Commissions of Geography and Statistics (CMGE), where possible doubts may be resolved. From today on, city halls will have 20 days to present their evaluations on the released figures, and, on November 29, IBGE will release results of municipal populations.
During this time, IBGE will keep working on the streets and internally in the supervision and quality control of the whole collected material, and also to provide clarification to members of CCE and CMGE and city halls, when necessary. One of the supervision activities is the return to households where the enumerator found evidence of residents, but nobody was enumerated.
