BUSINESSWEEK – Smart grid is perhaps the “cloud computing” of the utility industry. It’s a wildly hyped idea that’s hard to define. When I’m asked to define smart grid, I give a slightly different answer every time. A good working definition for smart grid is a bi-directional supply chain to connect power generation to transmission, distribution, and consumers by using information technology.
