Historical Map Gets Prestigious Award

THE STANDARD –  A War of 1812 Bicentennial map has won first prize at the world’s largest geographic information system (GIS) conference. The map, launched by the Niagara 1812 Bicentennial Legacy Council, won first prize in the map category for best cartographic design at the ESRI International User Conference held last week in San Diego.  It was designed by John Docker, GIS analyst for Niagara Region, and a number of other contributors. The map was unveiled in February and includes 125 points of War of 1812 interest along six Niagara trails. Read More
