GDF Suez takes control of International Power

KUWAIT TIMES – Europe’s second-biggest utility, GDF Suez, is set to take control of smaller UK rival International Power, creating the world’s largest independent power producer in terms of revenue. International Power shareholders will receive a special dividend of 92 pence once the deal is completed, totaling 1.4 billion pounds ($2.2 billion) and at the top end of analyst expectations, in exchange for relinquishing control of the company.
