One of the largest offsite meetings on the Arctic was held in the Nenets Autonomous District by the Russian Security Council. Today, the Arctic territory is considered a zone of interest by several countries. And they are no longer simply claiming the Arctic shelf, but Russia’s Northern Sea Route as well. A number of countries are even suggesting removing this sea route from Russia’s jurisdiction. In order to prevent this, Russia must increase its presence in the Arctic.
