Europe’s Untapped Energy Resource

Supplying the world with sustainable energy stands as a key challenge for business, policy makers and civil society alike. This is why the European Union cannot tackle the global energy crisis, reduce carbon emissions and achieve its sustainable growth objectives by engaging in half measures . Never before has the case for greater energy savings been so strong. The price of oil continues to soar year on year; our dependence on imported energy is increasingly volatile and, as some of the world’s most recent disasters have shown, despite efforts to diversify our energy mix, sudden energy shortages invariably sharpen demand for energy, notably coal, oil and gas. It is time for Europe to un-tap our greatest energy resource and put in place an ambitious plan for energy efficiency. Read More
