Analytics has identified that not all Canadian neighbourhoods are equal in terms of numerical literacy using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) analysis of Statistics Canada Census data and literacy survey research.

The Canadian Council on Learning (CCL) recently created a map of Canada based on Statistics Canada’s 2003 International Adult Literacy and Life Skills Survey. These results indicate that approximately half of adult Canadians lack the knowledge they require in order to properly function in society. Being skilled with numbers is critical for making important, everyday decisions regarding household budgets, reconciling bank accounts, and evaluating mortgage costs. Read More
