The UK National Ecosystem Assessment’s analysis of the social and economic benefits of our natural environment was published last week, and described by Caroline Spelman as: “a vital step forward in our ability to understand the true value of nature and how to sustain the benefits it gives us.” Ms Spelman hoped that the NEA will contribute to a growth in the value of nature over the coming years. 

A new IIED report considers farming and biodiversity: Colin Tudge argues in the foreword that farming can – and must – feed the world without compromising the environment.

Chris Huhne has proposed the most ambitious legally binding carbon targets of any developed country, while a Defra report warns of the urgent need to protect national infrastructure from the effects of climate change.
