Dutch Grant for Ecosystem Alliance

  • Rating12345

IUCN, Wetlands International and Both Ends can still submit their detailed proposal in order to compete for the Dutch Co-financing System for development grant (MFS II) with their program “The Ecosystem Alliance: Empowering People and Nature ‘development.”
The proposal concerned a five year programme in which the three organizations will jointly work on sustainable use of ecosystems in developing countries where people strongly depend on healthy nature for water and food security.
The proposal was initially turned down and the coalition decided to object to this rejection. Jane Madgwick, Director of Wetlands International: “This decision is an important and welcome opportunity for the Ecosystem Alliance. We propose an innovative and ambitious programme of work, which will demonstrate the value of biodiversity and ecosystem services to human well-being and sustainable development. Ecosystems such as wetlands need urgent attention for these purposes.”
