Brazil Wants Auction This Year for 10 Hydro Projects

The Brazilian government plans to accept bids this year for licenses to build 10 hydroelectric power stations with a combined generating capacity of close to 4,000 MW, officials said. The president of the EPE energy research company, Mauricio Tolmasquim, said Friday the government already has submitted plans for three large hydroelectric projects to the Court of Auditors and plans to do the same with the other smaller dams before Oct. 10.
