Thousands of Chilean families are facing water shortages, and the drought’s economic effects are already rippling through the agricultural and energy sectors. On Thursday, the agriculture minister announced a little over US$1 million for an irrigation project in Limarí, in the northern region of Coquimbo, which is experiencing its sixth consecutive year of drought.
