Infrastructure key to ‘Seamless Asia’

Asian countries should focus on connecting with one another through pan-Asian infrastructure systems to create more benefits for their populations, the Asian Development Bank and ADB Institute has suggested. The inadequacies of Asia’s infrastructure networks are a bottleneck to growth, a threat to competitiveness and an obstacle to poverty reduction, said an ADB-funded study entitled ”Infrastructure for a Seamless Asia”. It said that improving connectivity in the region would bring large welfare gains through increased market access, reduced trade costs and more efficient energy production and use. Read More
