Russian Air Pollution Increases 35% in 2010 y-o-y

The number of individual cases of critical air pollution in Russia increased by around 35% in 2010 year-on-year, the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations said on Friday. The main cause of the increase was the forest fires that swept the country for two months during a heat wave last summer, the ministry said. Industrial emissions and the burning of domestic waste were also major polluters. Read More
