Many of the conversations I have had this week as I have travelled around some of our great English cities (Scotland was last week and Wales next) have been about the lack of a body like the National Trust or the Campaign for the Protection of Rural England to stand up for cities. Most of us live in urban areas so this is perhaps surprising and the lack of an organised campaigning group on behalf of our towns and cities has really been felt in the current debate over the draft National Planning Policy Framework.
