VOLVO RSCH –  The Future Urban Transport (FUT) programme – how to deal with complexity – is a research programme financed by the Volvo Research and Educational Foundations (VREF). The overarching aim of VREF is to contribute to the development of sustainable transportation systems. Today, some three billion people live in cities – more people than live in rural areas – and the urbanisation continues. Within a couple of decades another two billion people are expected to move to cities, nearly all in developing countries.
