In the context of a Portuguese EU Presidency, the Centre of Marine and Environmental Research (CIMAR – Portugal) and the Marine Board-ESF are organising a science policy event entitled “The role of marine sciences in ocean sustainability and global change” (Lisbon, 8 October  2007). This event, in line with the EurOCEAN 2007 conference (Aberdeen, 22 June 2007), is meant at considering the importance of marine and maritime science and technology in the development of the European Maritime Policy.
