The infrastructure backlog has been hampering South Africa’s development over the past few years. But, in dealing with this challenge, the country also needs to consider ways to build sustainable infra-structure that takes account of the country’s ecosystems and rich biodiversity, the mainte-nance of which could have both job and economic benefits.
