Rowing to the North Pole

The 450 mile challenge is only now possible because of the increase in seasonal ice melt due to climate change. Led by arctic adventurer Jock Wishart, the rowers started from Resolute Bay in northern Canada on 29 July. “I’ve been interested in climate change since my time at Southampton and I’m looking forward to seeing conditions in the arctic for myself,” says David, who is now an Army Captain. “I’ve been rowing since my time at university and decided to take it up again after returning from serving in Afghanistan.
