Interregional Space Monitoring Center of Perm Territory to Open at Perm State National Research University

Perm State National Research University will become the venue on Monday February 14, 2011 for the opening of the Interregional Space Monitoring Center of Perm Territory. The center is supposed to enable to receive and process operational data from satellites and to conduct multilateral research work on the territory in order to provide comprehensive, up-to-date and unbiased information about the natural potentials, economic and environmental situation and the dynamics of the Kama River area for decision-making. In particular, it will be possible to check the status of forests, to conduct operational monitoring in fire-hazardous period, to check the arable and other lands use efficiency, to do meteorological surveys and many more.

At the first stage the Space Monitoring Center of the Perm State University will be operating in the mode of direct reception of data from five satellites —Terra, AquaSPOT 4, NOAA and MetOp. Currently UniScan and Alice-SCreceiving stations manufactured by ScanEx RDC have already been put into operation: all required mounting and testing job has been completed, university specialists have undergone training in the new training center of ScanEx RDC.
