In recent years, nuclear energy was still touted as a necessary bridging technology towards a renewable period. After the disaster in Fukushima, the federal government is now planning the nuclear phase-out within the next 11 years. New coal-and gas-fired power plants should instead be provided at the transition to a largely renewable power supply.
