BBC – Work to build a nuclear power plant at Bushehr began in 1974, but came to a halt in 1979 with the Islamic revolution. The project was revived in the 1990s with assistance from Russia, which is now preparing to begin loading nuclear fuel into the site’s first operational reactor.
