The HYPACK 2008 release was unveiled for the first time at the Ukrainian HYPACK seminar last week. The HYPACK seminar returned for the 3rd straight year to the Odessa National Maritime Academy. Pat Sanders and Ivan Izaak of HYPACK teamed up to present the seminar and give the users a sneak peak at the next release. One of the new features of the HYPACK shell is that the ‘Data and Project Files’ and ‘Screen Control’ windows now become floating windows. This allows you to have more space on the screen to view your data.
The ‘Data and Project Files’ window will also support multiple views. You can quickly tab through different ‘views’, where each view can have a unique combination of enabled and disabled files. One view might have the edited tracklines, while another view has the final soundings and contours, while a 3rd view might have the side scan mosaic. It’s a pretty neat feature, courtesy of Bill Bergmann of HYPACK.
One of the BIG changes to HYPACK 2008 is the updated SURVEY program. Among the nice changes:
One of the more ‘amusing’ features added to 3DTV are the addition of Waves and Sky to the display. This feature requires a high-end graphics card and won’t work on all computers, but it is pretty neat!
We continue to improve the CUBE implementation in HYSWEEP. This year, we have ported the graphics to OpenGL. The effects are quite stunning and provide much more detail when reviewing the data.
Our thanks to the Odessa National Maritime Academy for the use of their great facility and to the Ukrainian State Hydrographic Authority for their continued support and efforts in making the seminar a success.
