GE Brings Technology Showcase to Calgary

General Electric Canada will open a downtown office to showcase its technology innovations, initially employing 20 application engineers — but that could grow over the next few years to a staff of 80. CEO Elyse Allan said the centre — GE is still negotiating for about 50,000 square feet of space, likely over multiple floors — will also include a global heavy oil centre of excellence and they hope to have it open within six months. “It’s a working showcase of technology, where we will also be building a very strong application engineering base of people,” she said Thursday, in the city to launch a new partnership with the Province of Alberta.
