Terrain model with high accuracy in a short time to create digital one – this “was the aim of the pilot project” DGM-S Lower Rhine. This was 229 km long river section between Bonn and Emmerich by multibeam survey of the measuring vessel. With this technique, the sole high point density absorbed completely.The result is a nationwide digital terrain model with high accuracy, which in this form did not exist before. it gives it potential applications in the hydromorphological research, but also in the practical work of the WSV , such as the dynamic stabilization of the river bed by dredging or sediment additions.
