Barcelona recorded over 480 million journeys on public transport during the first quarter of 2011. The figure represents a growth of 2% on last year’s number and equals the figure for 2008. Public transport in the Barcelona area recovered, during the first quarter of this year, the number of journeys recorded in 2008, before the start of the crisis, according to information issued by the Metropolitan Transport Authority in a communiqué.
