A Major Step Forward for the AMESD Programme

Under the African Monitoring of the Environment for Sustainable Development (AMESD) programme, three grants were recently signed between the African Union Commission and the three Regional Implementation Centres (RICs) to implement services in support of the management of water, agricultural and environmental resources as well as land degradation and desertification mitigation, and natural habitat conservation. These three grants complement the two previous grants signed at the end of 2009 for implementing services in support of water resources management for crop and rangeland management along with marine and coastal management.
