Nigerian Mining Cadastre Revokes 640 licenses

The Nigerian Mining Cadastre office has revoked the licences of 640 miners for their non-compliance with the Nigeria Minerals and Mining Act 2007 and the Minerals Mining Regulation 2011, according to the agency’s director-general, Engineer Mohammed Amate. The mining cadastre office operates a ‘use it or lose it’ and ‘first come first served’ policies. The Minister of Mines and Steel Development , Mohammed Musa Sada noted that the Nigeria mining sector was characterised by a high number of speculators who abused their mining titles, which was why the mining cadastre took certain measures to curb the trend.
