News of First Irish Oil Strike Lifts SeaEnergy

News of what is believed to be Ireland’s first commercial oil well sent shares surging yesterday in Aberdeen-based SeaEnergy, one of the investors behind the project. SeaEnergy – which was founded as oil explorer Ramco in 1977 and has since diversified into renewable energy – owns a 25 per cent stake in Lansdowne Oil & Gas, which was one of the company’s subsidiaries until it was listed on Aim in 2006.
