Finnish Trains are the Most Energy-efficient Modes of Transport

A recent study by Helsinki Region Transport (HSL) seeks to restore the maligned reputation of local trains in a situation in which rail transport has suffered from the recent severe winter weather. Local trains have proven to be the most energy-efficient form of public transport in the Helsinki region. A local train will take a passenger three times further with the same amount of energy as the second-most energy-efficient mode of transport – the Helsinki Metro.
