Turkish Gov’t Opts for İzmir Over Ankara for EXPO 2020

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has had the final word on the rivalry between Ankara and İzmir over the EXPO 2020 fair, opting for the Aegean city as Turkey’s candidate to host the international event. “The necessary initiatives will be taken and support will be given to have EXPO 2020 held in İzmir,” Erdoğan said Saturday in his party’s election manifesto.
