Norway to Introduce Countrywide Public Transport Ticket System

NORWAY NEWS – Norway’s Ministry of Transport wants to introduce a universal public transport payment system that can be used by passengers on all modes of public transport throughout the country. The ministry hopes to have established a new company tied to the county’s transport companies that can administer a joint ticket scheme by 2011 and has allocated funds in the 2010 national budget to prepare a joint payment card system, which will require joint standards for electronic payment systems.
