Sweden – New National Elevation Model – Presentation

The Climate and Vulnerability Commission recommended in their report (SOU 2007:60) that Lantmäteriet should be commissioned to produce a New National Elevation Model (In Swedish: Ny Nationell Höjdmodell) with high accuracy. (Standard error should be better than 0,5 m for grid points in a 2 metre grid). During 2008, Lantmäteriet prepared a production plan for the new DEM in accordance with the recommendation. The Government has granted financial funds for the period of 2009-2011 for activities connected to climate change, which includes production of elevation data. The new DEM should meet user requirements and in particular meet the needs from users working with projects concerning climate adaptation and other environmental issues. Read More
