To check violations and identify slum structures for various schemes, the state government has asked the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to map slums prior to 1991 in the Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) areas. A senior civic official said, “The mapping of slums prior to 1991 will help agencies detect encroachments which came up after the implementation of CRZ 1991.
