Åland in Dispute with Mainland Over Wind Power Subsidies

HELSINGIN SANOMAT – Extensive wind power projects in the semi-autonomous Åland Islands have run up against the subsidy policy of the Ministry of Employment and the Economy. The province has plans to set up about 60 wind power generators in four separate projects.  However, in May it emerged that officials of both the Ministry of Employment and the Economy and the Ministry of Finance do not want to include the province in the support package for renewable energy in Finland, or the price support for wind power known as the feeder tariff.
