Tom Gmerek Becomes Social Media Manager at Quarry One Eleven

  • Rating12345

Tom Gmerek has joined the specialist geospatial and technical marketing agency, Quarry One Eleven as the company’s new Social Media Manager. Tom will build online communities for a wide range of geospatial and technical companies that will increase awareness, understanding and loyalty for their products.

Founder and CEO, Alistair Maclenan explained why Tom was the right fit for the company; “Quarry One Eleven offers our clients a unique combination of marketing expertise and geospatial industry knowledge; Tom has worked at the coal face (or rather copper in his case) for an African exploration company before he came to us. With that kind of experience, a remote sensing MSc and a great understanding of how to implement social media marketing, Tom is a great asset for our clients.”

Quarry One Eleven was started by Maclenan to provide end-to-end marketing support and consultancy for all companies working with geospatial products, data and services. Recently, the company has expanded their client-base significantly, hence the need to increase staff numbers.

Commenting on his appointment, Tom Gmerek said; “There is a gap in the geospatial industry; many companies with excellent products don’t communicate the benefits of their offerings effectively. Without a technical background, potential clients will fail to realise the relevance or value of what is on offer. I have experienced this problem first hand during my time as an exploration geologist and a customer!”

He continued “It is vital  that all marketing concentrates on the what the product can do for the end-user and not what the product can do. This is what drives the work at Quarry One Eleven and I am really excited to be joining at this period of rapid growth for the company.

Based on the Surrey Research Park in Guildford, UK, Quarry One Eleven is in the heart of one of the major centres of excellence in technology, science, health and engineering. Other companies sharing the Park include; Earth-i, SSTL and Airbus.
