TerraGo Edge Brings Real-Time GPS to Field Workers at a Fraction of the Cost of Traditional Handhelds

  • Rating12345

Washington, DC, Feb.18, 2015 – TerraGo, a pioneer of geospatial collaboration and enterprise mobility software, announces the availability of TerraGo Edge 3.4. For users who require high-precision data collection, this means they can now monitor GPS data in real-time, and capture the location when it meets their accuracy requirements. By providing an intuitive user interface and the ability to seamlessly integrate third-party GPS receivers of your choice, there’s no longer a need for expensive proprietary handheld devices.

According to GPS industry expert, Davis Wildman, Principal, Newland Geo, “Proprietary handheld GPS devices are increasingly being replaced by BYOD solutions. TerraGo Edge on a smart phone with an independent GPS receiver offers users a better field data collection tool and high precision GNSS solution, at a dramatically lower cost of ownership.” He adds, “With a range of GIS and survey-grade GPS receivers that work with smart phones and tablets, there’s simply no reason to be invest in outdated handhelds.”

New features include :

  • Displays real-time GPS monitor while capturing notes in the field
  • Records all GPS metadata and attributes (e.g. satellites, horizontal/vertical accuracy, heading)
  • Capture button to lock-in current GPS state
  • View photo metadata information in note display
  • Additional online map sources from USGS, CartoDB, Stamen, and Mapquest

“With 3.4, TerraGo Edge makes it easy to use the on-board GPS or a third-party GSP receiver to deliver the level accuracy needed for the task at hand. We are helping our customers give each user exactly what they need to do their job – and nothing more,” says Dave Basil, Vice President, Product Development, TerraGo. “Whether you need 5 meter or sub-centimeter or anywhere in between, TerraGo Edge gives users the precision they need with a modern mobile solution that delivers dramatic savings.”
