The Letter of Intent sets the stage for potential cooperation across key areas of space infrastructure, mission development, and security-related capabilities.
SSC Space, a global provider of advanced space services in ground segment, mission operations, science and launch, and Kuva Space, a Finnish space technology company building hyperspectral Earth observation satellites and AI-driven intelligence solutions, have signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) to explore a strategic collaboration focused on commercial, institutional, and security-related space opportunities.
“The potential collaboration is intended to leverage the complementary strengths of both parties, supporting closer Finnish and Swedish cooperation in security-related space activities while also advancing their respective commercial interests. Kuva Space is a driving force in the thriving and innovative Finnish space market,” says Charlotta Sund, President and CEO at SSC Space.
The Letter of Intent comes at a time when space is taking on greater strategic weight across the Nordic region and Europe. Recent public investment in national capabilities and the EU’s push for more secure, sovereign space infrastructure point to a broader change in how the sector is viewed: not simply as a commercial or scientific domain, but as part of the region’s long-term resilience and operational readiness. In this context, closer cooperation between trusted space actors in the Nordics and Europe is becoming increasingly relevant.
Under the LOI, the parties will explore opportunities for joint participation in commercial, defense, and institutional space programs with a particular focus on the Nordic region.
