COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Space Foundation, a nonprofit organization founded in 1983, offering information, education and collaboration for the global space ecosystem, announced that it will host a Train-the-Trainer Teacher Professional Development workshop on June 26-30, 2023, at Space Foundation Discovery Center in Colorado Springs. The week-long, project-based professional development event will inspire, educate and empower educators through the power of STEM learning.

The Train-the-Trainer Teacher Professional Development workshop is comprised of two separate courses — Project Asteria and Connections to Space — that cannot be taken concurrently. The workshop will provide teachers with tools and resources that can be used in the curriculum throughout the school year. Teachers will also receive a materials kit with a collection of STEM and space lessons.

“Space Foundation is excited to offer hard-working educators the opportunity to gather to ignite their passion, unlock new skills, and open the door to endless possibilities in shaping young minds,” said Dr. John West, Space Foundation senior vice president of Center of Innovation and Education. “In this immersive learning experience, we will equip attendees with the resources needed to breathe life into their classrooms, inspiring the next generation of space explorers and innovators.”

To help foster collaboration and for the best experience, each course is capped at 20 teachers. Upon completion, they will earn 40 professional development hours that can be applied toward their continuing education credits, and a certificate will be mailed after completion of the final survey.
