Simulations of Atmospheric Dispersion From Japan

  • Rating12345

In this configuration, the model can be used to perform simulations of “dispersion”. Are injected artificially in a model grid an arbitrary amount of tracer, and calculate the transport and dispersion of this tracer by the winds, turbulence, convection. These simulations look at how the air mass was over Japan at the initial moment, moves and dissolves in the environment, with the species they carry. To make these simulations quantitative information on the possible pollution would require in addition to detailed information on the source. The model itself is an approximate representation of reality. These very preliminary simulations should therefore be regarded as an indication among others on the evolution of radioactive pollution after the accident at the Japanese central.  Read More
