Participants of the 6th International Conference “Earth from Space the Most Effective Solutions”, which is to take place on October 1-3 near Moscow, will discuss the issues of using multi-temporal images during territory conditions monitoring: control of construction progress, study of natural events and of those as a result of human activities. Participants will share experience in space information application in major infrastructural and industrial projects.
Getting multi-temporal satellite data opens new possibilities in studying changes on the Earth surface, remote monitoring of man-made sites or natural events and phenomena.
Thus, for example, ScanEx specialists, having archived and new satellite imagery data of the studied areas, conduct monitoring of Olympic construction activities of the Big Sochi. Facilities started to be built back in 2007. Multi-temporal imagery data analysis enables to assess the dynamics of Olympic facilities erection activities in different parts of the city and its surroundings.
Multi-temporal satellite data helped tracking the stages in Russky Island bridge construction activities in Vladivostok. Construction was part of the program “Development of Vladivostok city as the center of international cooperation in Asian-Pacific Region” and preparation of the city to APEC summit, which took place on the Island in September 2012.
In addition to monitoring of facilities, multi-temporal satellite data helps conduct remote monitoring of natural events. For example, archived and new satellite images were used to detect the areas of mudflow at the northern slope of the Central Caucasus. Results of respective work were presented during the International Workshop “Dangerous Natural Events in Mountains: Karmadon Disaster Lessons” in Vladikavkaz in September 2012. Mudflow causes serious damage as a result of blocking motor ways and recreation areas, gas and oil pipelines blow-outs; overhead power lines, pipelines and temporary buildings destruction.
