PCTEL, Inc. unveiled its new high-rejection GPS timing reference antenna with enhanced narrow band filtering characteristics. The antenna enables reliable GPS synchronization capability for cellular, public safety, utilities and other enterprise communication systems operating in high RF noise environments.
PCTEL’s proprietary design combines its high-performance quadrifiliar helix element that provides optimal coverage with a sophisticated low noise amplifier with superior out of band noise rejection capability. The high noise rejection characteristics of the antenna have been optimized, in particular, to mitigate interference from L-Band spectrum recently cleared by the FCC for terrestrial mobile broadband service. The antenna is available with 26dB and 40dB amplifier gain options. PCTEL’s antenna has been qualified and approved by a large North American cellular carrier and several global telecom OEM’s.
“Over the past few years, there has been tremendous growth in IP based communication systems that require precise GPS timing synchronization. Many of these systems are deployed in high RF noise environments that can interfere with the GPS signal,” said Jeff Miller, PCTEL’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “PCTEL continues to invest in developing industry leading GPS antenna solutions to meet our customers evolving needs,” added Miller.
PCTEL will demonstrate its new high-rejection GPS Timing Antenna along with its portfolio of antenna products at the IWCE Exhibition in Las Vegas, March 9-11, 2011.
